Northwest Contract Extened for 2 Years

We have received word from Joel Rosen, USPS Washington D.C. the current Northwest Airlines’ contract with USPS to carry lives from Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit under a surcharge arrangement as been extended for two year, through February 27, 2009. The $1.00 surcharge will remain in affect. This is great news for those of us in the upper Midwest that rely on this service to carry our birds.
I think it is good to remember, that in Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit, Northwest is only one option. These markets are also served by other airlines and Federal Express. The postal airmail personal at these two airports have the option to use any of the carriers as volume and schedules allow.
